The Stones in Berrima are known for their pie shop,,so after some exercise in the gym I had “brunsch” at the stones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They do not only do savoury pies. They have a large selection of desert. I could resist the temptation and had a traditional meat pie. It was a good pie, but maybe the rumours are exaggerated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the lovely bike roads through Kangaroo valley you may find a wombat or two. Tiger, this one is for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fitzroy Falls was better than expected with a fantastic view and a waterfall of 81 meters. Impressive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a few hours on the bike it was nice to take a swim or two around Jervis bay. Hyams beach has the whitest sand you can imagine and turquoise water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Currarong where you find Wilsons beach and Abraham bosoms beach and rock pools you also find the leftovers of SS Merimbula who hit the rocks 1928. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The steamer ran a passenger service from Sydney to the South Coast, under the Illawarra and South Coast Steam Navigation Company. It was the first steamer to boast deck cabins, a music room and other worldly comforts not before seen on the Far South Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Built in 1909 in Scotland, the Merimbula measured 64 metres in length and was 9.75 metres at the beam.When the steamer first began operating, it was fitted out with accommodation for 96 saloon passengers and 10 second class passengers. However, in 1921 the company removed the second class cabins to make way for the crews\u2019 sleeping quarters.

On its fateful final journey, the SS Merimbula departed Sydney on Monday, March 26, 1928. As it made its way south, the steamer encountered large swell and heavy weather. The heavy rain reduced visibility and the Merimbula hit a reef at Abrahams Bosom near Currarong at 1am. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
